Hollie Duncan, a true Alaska Native, claims Phoenix, AZ as her home – though reluctantly at times. Bringing more than a year of experience in proposal management, she joined the Meridian West team late 2019 ready to hang with the best of the veterans. While most writer enthusiasts pursue a path in creative writing or journalism, Hollie gained her degree in Technical Writing which combined her passion for learning processes and details with her love for writing. With more than 50+ hours of interviewing under her belt, countless days of traveling for work and a multitude of long nights writing, Hollie has gained an appreciation and respect for the construction industry’s processes, positions and culture.

While writing remains in her top five of favorite things to do, you can regularly find Hollie kicking up the dirt on the local Arizona hiking trails. Hollie’s weird obsession with rocks combined with her time growing up on a lake in Alaska has made the outdoors a special place of escape even when it is 115 degrees outside. With a four-wheeler being her main mode of transportation throughout her childhood, not a dog sled, she still loves the feeling of driving down a dirt road to remote places to camp for the weekend. When not kicking it outside, Hollie can be found in the local breweries throughout Phoenix telling stories and playing card games and volunteering with a local youth group.

With the rest of the Duncan clan having moved from Alaska to Colorado in the last year Hollie now spends as many weekends as possible visiting them and being the annoying youngest child they love. Hollie’s real goal in life is to eat anything with sugar and watch lots of TV, but she does spend a decent amount of time at the gym throwing around weights and attempting to perform cardio. One day, Hollie hopes to retreat to some lake somewhere to live out her life riding around on a four-wheeler, hiking, telling stories and sipping her sugar-soaked coffee.
